SECOND LOOK
Product design project about re-designing an electric moka.
Akom, the electric moka for the office
Akom is an electric Moka designed thinking about the main issues of this electric device. Akom is an electric Moka for offices, its capacity is of five cups, in order to have the possibility to share the time dedicated to the coffee break of half morning with the colleagues. Akom can be reused immediately after the preparation of the coffee thanks to the double handles, that allow to open the Moka without touching the heated parts, and also thanks to the lid tab on the filter, that allows to lift it without touching the coffee. The base of the Moka works with induction and can be used also with other kitchen equipment.
To avoid that the Moka gets burn, if forgotten on the plate, there is a special button adjusted to shut down the device when the coffee is ready. The plate has the double function to host the cable when it has to be stored. The Moka can be also decomposed, removing the parts that are unnecessary and placed on the special base, to have a new way to serve coffee, playful, but also elegant, thanks to its shape that deceives the eye because it recalls a teapot. The cap can be kept still with the special tab lid that allows at the same also to open it with a simple gesture of the thumb.
